Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are individuals with deep knowledge, hands-on experience, and expertise in specific domains within the life sciences sector, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and R& D. Their insights and inputs are crucial in ensuring that the skilling ecosystem remains relevant, industry-aligned, and quality-driven.

LSSSDC actively engages with SMEs to develop, validate, and maintain high standards in National occupational standards (NOS), curriculum frameworks, assessment tools, and the skilling content. SMEs contribute not only through their subject knowledge but also by ensuring practical applicability, technological advancement, and industry trends are factored into the skilling initiatives.

  • ⮞ Review & development of National Occupational Standards (NOS)
  • ⮞ Student Handbook and Trainer guide development and review
  • ⮞ Assessment tools/Question Bank Development
  • ⮞ Contributes in Trainers and Assessors (ToT and ToA)
  • ⮞ Representation in Standard Setting Committees
  • ⮞ Provide Sectoral inputs related to Industry advancements

Ideal candidates have industry experience, training/assessment exposure, and relevant professional qualifications.

  • Answer:   SMEs contribute to shaping national standards, curriculum, and developing assessment tool frameworks. They gain recognition in the sector depending on the engagement type.
     
  • 3. What types of engagements are available for SMEs?
  • Answer:  SMEs can engage with LSSSDC in multiple modes such as:
  • ⮞ Freelance / task-based assignments
  • ⮞ Official onboarding as a recognized SME
  • ⮞ Voluntary (pro bono) contributions
     
  • 4. Is this a full-time opportunity?
    Answer:   No, SME engagement is flexible and project-based. You may contribute as per your availability and interest—full-time association is not mandatory.
     
  • 5. How can I apply to become an SME?
  • Answer:   You can fill out the SME Application Form available on the LSSSDC website. Submit your details along with your updated resume and a brief on your expertise. The LSSSDC team will contact shortlisted applicants for further steps.
     
  • 6. What qualifications or experience are required?
  • Answer:   Applicants should have:
  • ⮞ Minimum 10-15 years of industry experience in the domain
  • ⮞ Specific knowledge in a functional area
  • ⮞ Experience in training delivery or assessment in industry, or content development
     
  • 7. How long does the onboarding process take?
  • Answer :  Typically, 2–4 weeks depending on profile screening, document verification, and internal approvals. Shortlisted SMEs are contacted via email or phone.
