Mr. Satish Reddy, Chairman

An alumni of Purdue University, USA (MS, Medicinal Chemistry), where he received the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award, Satish Reddy is Chairman of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. Associated with Dr Reddy’s since 1993, when he joined as Executive Director, and has led the company’s transition from maker of API’s into an integrated drug manufacturer, making formulations as well— and currently India’s 2nd largest pharma company.

He plays a key role in shaping government policy on crucial issues concerning the pharmaceutical sector and the economy. As member of key Industry Organisations, Committees and Boards he has contributed to policy on India’s Patent law, pharmaceutical pricing, and key amendments to the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, among other issues critical to the pharmaceutical sector and the economy. Identified as “Young Global Leader for 2007” by World Economic Forum, and a strong advocate of responsible corporate citizenship, he is also Chairman of Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focusing on numerous CSR initiatives.

Mr. Apurva Shah, GB Member

Mr. Apurva Shah is the Founder & Group Managing Director of Veeda Clinical Research. Mr Shah has an MBA in International Finance & Entrepreneurship from Babson College in Boston USA. With his strong entrepreneurial and organizational skills Mr. Shah has been able to grow Veeda to become one of the premier CROs in the country. As a member of the Board he gives strategic and financial direction to all Group Companies. Apurva is the immediate past Chairman of Association of CROs in India ( He is on the governing council of the Life Science Skill Development Council set up by the Govt of India. He also has been serving on the Pharma committee of CII for the past 3 years.

Dr. B. Suresh

Prof Suresh Bhojraj, for the past thirty years has been actively involved in uplifting the standards of pharmacy education and profession in India. He was elected in 2003 as the President of Pharmacy Council of India, the statutory body regulating the pharmacy education and profession in India. He was once again re-elected as the President of Pharmacy Council of India in August 2008 and August 2013 and has the unique honor being elected thrice to this leadership position. He is also the Chairman of the Scientific Body of Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, which is responsible for setting of standards for pharmaceutical substances and formulations.

Dr. Suresh is also the delegate member of the United States Pharmacopeia Convention and also the member of the Council of Convention of the USP. He is also the member of ACPE International Services Commission , USA . He was also the past President of Asian Association of Schools of Pharmacy, Chairman of the Education Section of the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Association and the Executive Member of Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association.

Mr. P.K Gupta,GB Member

Mr. P. K. Gupta is the founder member of Confederation of Indian Pharmaceutical Industry and is instrumental in consolidating its base in the Northern India. He has been instrumental in bringing grievances of small scale pharma companies and have single handedly contributed in making numerous amendments to the law benefitting to small and medium pharma companies. He is the chief spokesperson and the trouble shooter of the Pharmaceutical Industry SME’s (Small and Medium Enterprises.

Mr. Ranjit Madan, Chief Executive Officer

An alumni of Henley College, London, UK (EDP), IIM Ahmedabad (MBA), and St Stephen’s College (BA Hons, Economics), Ranjit Madan has over 25 years experience in leading MNC’s (ICI, Ciba and Mobil), growing running businesses and establishing start-ups in India and overseas— handling Asia Pacific (AP) region, based in Singapore. He has been associated with diverse businesses—from petrochemicals to pharmaceuticals, and dyestuffs to defence. Previously, he has held several top management positions in reputed Indian and MNC companies in India/ overseas.Keenly interested in issues of socio-economic relevance, he has written several papers in this space, which have received accolades from reputed institutions—in India and overseas.

RaoV.S.V.Vadlamudi, Ph. D.

President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA)

Rao Vadlamudi started his career at UDCT, Matunga, Mumbai, and during a career spanning 31 years till date, he worked in academia as well as in the industry in various capacities.

His Academic highlights-Reader in Pharmacology, UDCT, Professor in Pharmacology, Bombay College of Pharmacy (BCP), first ever Director of BCP and currently the Director of St. Peter’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Warangal. Industry Highlights, Pharmacology in Piramal Research Centre; VP, Discovery Biology in Suven Life Sciences; VP and Principal Fellow in Nektar Therapeutics India Limited, and Sr. VP-Life Sciences at Vimta Labs Ltd, Hyd. He was the Editor of Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the official scientific publication of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) from 1996-2014.

He received the Fellowship of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association in 2000; received Dr. B. N. Ghosh Memorial Oration Award of the Indian Pharmacological Society in 2005, the Prof. M. L. Khorana Memorial Lecture Award of the IPA in 2009, the Eminent Pharmacist award of IPA in 2013, the IPA President Special Oration award in 2014 and the Fellowship of the Association of Biotechnology and Pharmacy in Dec 2014.

Ravi Uday Bhaskar

Joined as Drugs Inspector in the year 1989 in the state of AP Worked in various capacities in Drugs Control Administration of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.He received no of commendations from Govt of AP for outstanding contribution as regulator and Recipient of Life Time Achievement Award in the year 2013 during 65th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC).He had distinction of developing Jeevanadhara (low cost quality generic concept, 90-40 % discount offered on the drugs manufactured by reputed companies) along with MrSymala Rao,IAS in the year 2010 and Govt of AP has made it a state program.

Dr. Shubnum Singh, Secretary

An alumni of Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, Dr. Shubnum is a founder member and currently, Director of Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. where she is actively involved in strategizing and developing different verticals of the business. Her special interest in physician behavior has led her to lead for the group a program for setting the governance framework & templates.

She is a lead founder member of the Healthcare Sector Skills Council (HSSC), Chairperson - HSSC Advisory Committee on NOS, Accreditation & Certification and Core Team Member of Healthcare Federation of India (NATHEALTH). She has also served as member of Performance management Team under aegis of Cabinet Secretariat, Govt of India, and is an active member of various committees and forums.

V.V. Krishna Reddy

Sri V.V. Krishna Reddy is the incumbent National President of BDMA from 2017

A Chemical Engineer by qualification, Sri Krishna Reddy is the Managing Director of Sri Krishna Pharmaceuticals, a renowned Bulk Drug manufacturing company.

As a business leader with valuable insights into the core issues of the industry, he has been instrumental in pursuing resolution of many key issues facing the industry.

Kanchana TK

Kanchana TK is Director General and Board Member, Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), which represents research-based multinational pharmaceutical companies in India.

Kanchana leads OPPI’s engagement with the Government of India on a three-part agenda critical to an industry that launches innovative medicines and therapies that are essential to the Indian patient. Her role involves leading conversations and collaborations with external stakeholders – policy makers, patient advocates, media and public keeping the patient centerstage.

Her professional experience at the leading edge of a spectrum of businesses, health insurance, healthcare consulting, healthcare access and policy advocacy stands her in good stead with her many interlocutors. Her experience spans business, public affairs and policy verticals in India, Africa and Middle East. She has worked across geographies, establishing public affairs in MEAI for a leading biopharma company. Kanchana is a successful name in insurance consulting and broking, stewarding the intellectual property conversation for research-based pharmaceuticals.

Kanchana TK has been named one of the IP Star Women of the Year 2019 at the Lega Era Intellectual Property Awards 2019. In 2018, she won the CEO of the year at the Sabre Asia Pacific Awards 2018. She was also named CEO of the year 2018 at the She Leads Summit 2018 and is also the winner of the Women Icon of the Year 2018 at the Summit.

Her work has been recognized with many awards: Women Worth Watching 2017; the ‘Top 50 impactful women in Healthcare’ (global listing) by World Health & Wellness Congress, ‘Bloomberg-UTV Women in Leadership Award’, ‘Women at Work Leadership Award’ by Bloomberg-UTV.

She is a passionate advocate of gender diversity and drives this agenda through various forums.

Lion Daara B. Patel

Secretary-General, Indian Drug Manufacturers Association

Lion Daara B Patel is a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Mumbai and has a Diploma in Materials Management from Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM).

    • J.L. Morison (India) Ltd.

  • Currently (since 2002) he is the Secretary General of Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA), an apex body of 1000 plus pharmaceutical and bulk drug manufacturers.
    • He is responsible for the smooth functioning of the association as per the constitution and By-Laws.
    • He organizes industry specific seminars, training programs & workshops, makes presentations, efficient handling of pricing related issues, EXIM policy and regulatory & technical affairs, Industry Trade related issues.
    • He also coordinates activities / issues with other Associations like OPPI (Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India), IPA (Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance) etc.
    • He is known for his ability to promptly resolve issues of members and respond to their queries.
    • He has been invited to several Seminars, Conferences as a Speaker and also as Chairperson for various Panel Discussions.
    • He has excellent leadership qualities and is an able administrator. He is responsible for the smooth functioning of the Association which includes P.R. activities, organizing and conducting Training Programmes. He leads the association’s CSR initiatives.
    • Liaising with the Government and Ministry, making representations, presentations.
    • Under his stewardship IDMA has gone global by signing MoUs with similar Associations like National Chamber of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, ('NCPM') Sri Lanka, China Pharmaceutical Industry Association (CPIA), Korea Pharmaceutical Industry Association (KPMA), DuBiotech, Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE), Toyoma Pharmaceutical Association (TPA) etc.
    • The Membership of IDMA increased under his leadership from 500 members to 1000 plus.
    • Successfully handling activities of all the 8 state Boards of IDMA viz - Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh & Uttaranchal, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana and Karnataka.
    • Played a major role in formation of new State Board of Karnataka and is working towards forming more State Boards.
    • Handling of all IDMA publications and ensuring its timely release.
    • Under his stewardship IDMA along with NSF Health Sciences, UK organised the 1st ever international education program - Advanced Program in Pharmaceutical Quality Management which was a stupendous success and appreciated by one and all.
    • He is the member of the Advisory Board of Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Management of IES Management College and Research Centre.
    • He has successfully led delegations of Indian Pharmaceutical Companies jointly with FICCI and Reed Exhibitions to China as well as Japan for interactive meetings with SFDA, Ministry of Commerce, Chinese Pharmaceutical & API Manufacturers & CPIA.
    • He was invited by United States Pharmacopoeia as an Official Observer in Washington in April 2010 and as a Delegate in April 2015.
    • He has addressed several Educational Institutes on the occasion of their Convocation.
    • Press regularly seeks his opinion on various issues of the Pharma Industry. Has given interviews to the Press as well as Media.
    • Bestowed with one of the most prestigious awards – “Pharma Professional of the Decade” by the Pharma Leaders Group in December 2014.
    • Recently Awarded by The Economic Times for ‘Commendable contribution to the Pharmaceutical Industry’.

Sudarshan has a strong passion for healthcare and the education sector. Currently, he is the Secretary-General of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (, Senior Advisor - Apax Partners and Board member of multiple organizations. He has served in several leadership positions for over 40 years in Healthcare industry (Lupin, Johnson & Johnson, Piramal, Abbott) and was formerly the Managing Director at Abbott Healthcare Solutions.

His current Board engagements include Abbott India, Healthium Limited (Apax portfolio company), Zandu Chemicals Limited,Indian Institute of Health Management Research – Jaipur, Indian Education Society (IES), Advisory Board of Narsee Monjee University, Mumbai (NMIMS). He is the Visiting Faculty at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. He has contributed in shaping the healthcare policy and improving access to healthcare in India.
